|An old tenament, the sort of building New York City used to be composed of, barely hanging on for life. The dark sign above the plywood barrier reads Connolly's Pub. Clearly the wrecking ball is only days away. Connolly's Pub is an outcast in its neighborhood; the hulking glossy building to its left is a corner of MoMA.
By now the pub is gone. A 1050-foot skyscraper is planned for that space (there has been much controversy about what height is allowed). MoMA will be connected with, and occupy, several of its lower floors.
But no need to pity Connolly; there is a brand new shiny Connolly's Pub right across 54th Street from the old site!
